Norway's PM admits she panicked and closed all schools and nurseries 'out of fear' on day country recorded first Covid death - amid criticism lockdown measures made no difference
Norway's Prime Minister has admitted that she took the decision to close down schools amid the coronavirus pandemic 'out of fear'. The country's leader Erna Solberg took to Norweigian television on Wednesday to admit that she had panicked while imposing the strict lockdown measures and but made the decision as a 'precautionary' move. During an interview with state broadcaster NRK, the politician said: 'Was it necessary to close schools? Maybe not. But at the same time, I think it was the right thing to do at the time. Based on the information we had, we took a precautionary strategy.'
'I probably took many of the decisions out of fear. Worst case scenarios became controlling, and we kept thinking; ''how can we be a leader?''
The Prime Minister's comments come just weeks after Camilla Stoltenberg, the director-general of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) said the country could have achieved the same effects by 'not locking down'.
Meanwhile the health Nazis in Britain doubled down.
Scientific advisers to the government have warned of the risk of lifting the lockdown in England. Sir Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust and a member of Sage, said on Twitter that Covid-19 is "spreading too fast to lift lockdown in England"
Why do these people insist on continuing a policy that, as the Norwegian premier admits, does nothing other than destroy the economy?
Join the dots.
The Wellcome Trust:
Our founder, Sir Henry Wellcome, was a medical entrepreneur, collector and philanthropist. How we work today reflects the breadth of his interests, and his conviction that health can be improved when research generates, tests and investigates new ideas. Our governance is based on an updated version of Henry’s will.
Today, we have a £26.8 billion investment portfolio which funds all the work we do.
Dr Jeremy Farrar, Director of the Wellcome Trust, said: "Climate change is an urgent threat to global health.
Yes he, like most of the government's academic advisors, is a member of the climate change fraternity. Wedded to the idea of de-development as outlined by the Ehrlichs and Dr John Holdren. That's why they want to double down on the lockdown.
Every day delayed means more unknown numbers of businesses going to the wall, people being made unemployed. And lower carbon dioxide emissions. I doubt Plantae will appreciate that much. I know people despairing of how they can pay their rent/mortgage and child costs certainly won't.
At least the Norwegians 'fessed up to the mistake.
